Dryer Hose Pumpkins

I decided to take a few steps back from the blog life after the summer of the never ending green tomatoes. I felt like I was unable to delve into anything fun and interesting because I was racing against time to get hundreds of those darn green tomatoes in the freezer before they went bad. I was successful but totally burnt out. My "month off" of Dabbling Brooke turned into nearly three when school started back. It took some time to adjust to our new routine with two kids in two different schools and a stay-at-home baby. When we finally got into a groove that felt good and manageable, the schools went virtual. Sitting on screens all day is not for us, and when my boys started to push back, I considered pulling them out of public school and teaching them myself (we homeschooled from January to May in 2021 for the same reason). If my boys have to be taught at home, I'm more than capable enough to do it myself without the screens. But luckily for all of us, we got the call on a Friday afternoon from Everett's preschool that students were allowed to come back that next Monday. Declan's school reopened a couple days later. They've been back in the classroom for a little while now and I've finally been able to treat my self to the "break" I set out to take three months ago. Mom life, right?

The cool air and the falling leaves outside have me feeling refreshed and ready to dive back in. I pulled out my fall decor earlier this month and have the easiest pumpkin craft to show you. This is by far my favorite DIY I've ever done and for good reason. It looks very high-end and was incredibly easy to do with kids. When I made these with the boys I believe they were just one and three years old. All you need is dryer vent hose, hot glue, paint, and a stick. One dryer vent hose made three pumpkins for me.

All you do is cut the hose into three equal-ish pieces, hot glue into the shape of a pumpkin, paint, then place a stick in the middle. You can hot glue the stick if you want, but the pumpkins are easier to store in the off-season if the sticks are removeable. I added ribbon for a little added flair, and ta-da! Easy fall decor that looks like a million bucks!

Please ignore the missing trim along the ceiling. Our kitchen is a forever work in progress!
