Fried Green Tomatoes

I was totally done with the green tomato recipes. I swore them all off until next year. I had put up and cooked from what we had until I was tired of all things green tomato. I then went through what we had left, threw away the thirty or so that went bad before I was able to get to them and gave away twenty tomatoes each to three of our neighbors. We were free! No more tomatoes taking up space on my windowsills and counters. I could finally move on to recipes involving other summer vegetables. That is, until our tomatoes were ready to pick. I had been dealing with the tomatoes from Byron's garden for so long that I had forgotten all about our own crop of tomatoes in the garden. So here's one final green tomato recipe. The last hoorah of the green tomato saga.

Of all the green tomato recipes out there, this one is the most obvious. So obvious, that I didn't intend on giving fried green tomatoes their own post. This changed, however, when I shifted a few ingredients and perfected it.

Battering in flour and then again in the bread crumbs and corn meal really makes the perfect crust. The italian bread crumbs also give them just enough flavor to make these extra special. Try it for yourself!
